Tonight I made some fun blinged out hair clips! 

And now Im going to share a quick tutorial with you as well as give one away to one of you!! :)

Supplies:

Felt

Plastic gem rhinestones

scissors and glue!

alligator clip

I didnt go picture happy with this one.. since its pretty easy.

Cut your heart shapes out, glue them together.

The decide on the patter you want to use with your gems, and glue them on! 

Easy peasy.

To make it more study, I glued it again to another piece of felt. 

Then cut to shape.

Attach to alligator clip

And that is it! You can make with or without a scalloped edge! :)

Citrus Coasters

 Unique felt crafts for banquet and more: sewing patterns
Ever since the weather turned warm, I've had visions of pink lemonade and iced tea with lime wedges dancing in my head.  Summer also puts me in the mood to entertain so I thought it would be fun to have a set of coasters to match this citrus drink theme.

I love to have a summer sewing project that is portable so I can take it with me to the beach! Felt is often my material of choice for portable projects since it's ideal for hand sewing.  It's also great for making durable home items like these cheerful coasters.  For this project we used our Spring Felt Bundle because the bright colors reminded us of real citrus fruits.
I love that each coaster is slightly different from the next due to the handsewing. They will add a breezy, summery vibe to any table.  This is the kind of project you can do with very little experience since it requires absoultely no special skills or equipment.-- Molly

Materials

• A Spring Felt Bundle
• A Citrus Coaster Template, available for free download here, printed and cut out
• Valdani Embroidery thread to match the colors of the felt bundle. I used colors 18, 10, 0244, 1212, and 45. You could also just use ecru on all of them if you don't mind seeing the stitches.

Cutting

For each coaster cut the felt as instructed on the template. You will have:

• 2 large colored circles for the peel and the backing
• 8 colored segments (4 cut from each segment template)
• 1 ecru circle for the pith

Cut "seeds" out of two or three of the segment pieces by folding the segment piece in half lengthwise and then taking a small snip across the fold to take out a small triangular chunk out of the piece.

Sewing

Place the pith circle in the center of one of the colored circles. Then arrange the segments on top of the pith circle as shown above.

Pin all of these layers together.
Using thread to match the colored felt and a very small running stitch sew on the segment pieces around their edges.

Sew on all of the segments in this manner and press the piece flat.
Pin the other colored circle to the back of the piece.
Hiding the beginning knot in between the front and back colored circles sew the back on with the matching embroidery thread and a small running stitch all the way around the coaster.

Once you've gotten all the way around tie a small knot on the back piece and then pass the needle through the two layers and pull it out in the middle of the back. Snip the thread at the exit point thus hiding it.
Trim edges to make the front look nice and neat.

Repeat all steps to make 2 coasters from each of the colored felt pieces.

Halloween crafts for kids: Jack-O'-Lantern Wreath Tutorial

 

I'm always inspired by wreath tutorials. I see so many gorgeous, fantastic and fun wreaths and tutorials out there. I rush out to get supplies to make it, and then for some reason lose the thrill and never make it! Sad, I know...

Well I finally decided to make a wreath! Yay! I think I may have been more motivated to actually make this one because its my very own design and I wanted to see how it would turn out from my head into real life!

Its different, but perfect for the Holiday coming up! :)

Here is my Halloween Themed Wreath:

Supplies Needed:

Bare Wreath Starter 

(you could use a styrofoam round too, but I already had this one on hand)

Orange fabric

black and yellow felt

Thin orange ribbon

Green ribbon (any size you prefer)

Scissors

Glue Gun

Start out by cutting your fabric into LONG 2in strips. I did this one strip at a time to see how much I would need. I ended up using 2 long strips.

Glue the starter piece to the back of the wreath, then wrap around and around, gluing every so often for security.

Once you have it completely covered, cut your orange ribbing to fit across and around your wreath. You will need to separate pieces. 

Next cut your felt in the shapes you want for your jack-o-lantern face!

Arrange the face and glue the black felt overlapping the yellow felt. I did this to give it a look of depth. You could do JUST black or just yellow if you prefer. :)

Next Glue those shapes to your orange ribbon.

And wrap around the wreath to make your Jack-O-Lantern face!

Then simply glue and wrap your green ribbon around the top to make the stem. Make a loop to hang it by and tie a bow for added cuteness!

Now you've got yourself a cute little jack-o-lantern wreath, hang or add with your other Halloween decor!

Paper crafts:  Making Pom-Poms flowers for holiday decorating

Here’s what you’ll need:

• tissue paper
• thin beading wire
• scissors

Here’s what you do:

1. Cut 6 to 8 small sheets of tissue paper. The width of the sheets should be a little more that the desired diameter of the pom-pom.
2. Make 1-centimeter accordion folds, taking care to firmly crease each fold.
3. Cut a piece of wire, about 10 centimeters or longer, depending on what you plan to use the pom-pom for.
4. Slip the wire over the center of the folded paper and twist together.
5. Snip each end of the folded paper into a point or a curve.
6. Peel up and fan out each layer of tissue paper, one at a time.
7. Arrange the layers to the desired shape.

These are nice and easy if you are making just a small handful of them, but if you have to make a huge bunch for your wedding, you might want to share the load with some friends. Invite them over for a pom-pom-making party. Serve puffy things like profiteroles and doughnut holes and make some pom-poms!”

Gifts for lover and Valentine : Yarn Hearts tutorial

Hearts made from rustic floral wire are wrapped with yarn and hung in the window for Valentine's Day.

To make these you will need: rustic floral wire (available in the floral section of any craft store - it's like wire wrapped in craft paper), wire cutters, yarn and scissors.

Clip off a length of floral wire and bend into a heart shape; twisting the ends together to secure.

Tie yarn onto heart.

Pull yarn across heart, wrap around wire and pull yarn across to the other side.

Wrap yarn securely so there is no slack.

Tie a knot and cut yarn with enough length for hanging.

You could also tuck a note inside and give it as a valentine.

Paper crafts for kids: Paper Boutonnieres tutorial

Carnation boutonnieres made from cupcake liners are easy to make and kids love them.

Perfect for St. Patrick's Day.

To make these, I find that the king-size cupcake liners work the best. I got mine in the baking supply aisle at Jo-Ann's.

Flatten out cupcake liner.

Fold liner in half.

Fold into 4th, 8ths and then 16ths.

Twist the bottom into a point.

Using floral stem wrap tape (available in the floral supply section of any craft store), wrap the stem of your boutonniere.

Fan out the top.

Create the look of petals by cutting into the paper.

To add color, I painted my flower with watercolor paint.

Tie stem with ribbon and add a safety pin.
